Summer Conference Assistant
The Summer Conference Assistant position is an important part of our summer staff. The Office of Residence Life hosts a variety of camps and conferences and will also house summer school students. The Summer Conference Assistant position is a combination of two positions: the Resident Assistant (assisting residents, building community, and enforcing policies) and the Conference Assistant (preparing the hall for a camp/conference, providing duty coverage, and assisting staff as needed). Most importantly, the Summer Conference Assistant provides positive customer service to all who stay in our residence halls during the summer. The Summer Conference Assistant will work with a team of approximately 10 student staff.

Qualifications
General qualifications and eligibility:
• Be available to work from May 19, 2025 through August 18, 2025*. Fall 2025 residence hall staff will be released early for training. *The schedule is subject to change due to training needs and specific conference itineraries.
• Be an enrolled student at a UW System school
• Be in good conduct standing at UWL
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
• Exhibit a solid work ethic
• Be able to work well with other people
• Demonstrate ability to work independently of a supervisor
• Have general knowledge of Residence Life
• Possess good leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills
• Preference will be given to applicants with some Residence Life position experience (Desk Assistant, Resident Assistant, Senior Staff, Custodial Assistant, Eagle Mail Center Assistant)
Compensation
Compensation for work performed will be $12.50 per hour.
A single room in a 4-person apartment in Reuter Hall is provided to summer student staff. Performance and attendance conditions must be met.
Throughout the summer, weekly hours will vary depending on the camps and conferences we are hosting. A Summer Conference Assistant can typically expect to average approximately 20 hours per week.

Summer Custodial Assistant
The Summer Custodial Assistant works with the Custodial Team over the summer to deep clean the residence halls in preparation for the academic year and maintain day-to-day cleanliness of the residence halls while camps and conferences are in session. Typical scheduled hours will be between 6 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Responsibilities require the ability to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and work with little-to-moderate supervision.

Compensation
Base compensation for work performed is $13.50 per hour.
Summer Custodial Assistants may live on-campus or off-campus. Free on-campus shared room with air conditioning is offered to all summer staff; Performance and attendance conditions must be met.

Summer Office Assistant
The Student Office Assistant supports the daily operation of the Office of Residence Life, with key responsibilities related to handling email and phone communications, administrative office tasks, and other duties as assigned. A successful candidate will have customer service skills, the ability to problem solve, and some familiarity with a campus housing experience.

• Free summer housing in Reuter Hall for the duration of employment
• Anticipating 35-40 hours/week for summer 2025 work
• Monday-Friday, hours between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
