Sustainability at UWL
At UWL we are committed to working towards environmental excellence. We exemplify this behavior across various sectors, including but not limited to:
- Building new building to a high environmental standard to maximize efficiency and sustainability.
- Retrofitting and maintaining older buildings to keep them running as intended and incorporate new efficient technology.
- Promoting sustainable modes of transportation by improving comfort and removing barriers.
- Reducing harmful chemicals for cleaning and for grounds management.
- Increasing native planting around campus to provide habitat, reduce watering and improve climate resilience.
- Utilize "rain gardens" to reduce storm water run off and improve water quality.
- Diverting recyclables and compostable materials from entering the waste stream.
