The 2023-2024 WiSys Quick Pitch competition is open to all students in all academic disciplines!
Students can showcase their creative and innovative spirit by presenting their research findings and/or original ideas through a short "quick pitch" to a panel of judges. There will be cash prizes for the winning pitches.

Who can participate?
All UWL students, undergraduate and graduate, from all academic disciplines are able to enter the competition. Note: students must be available for the mandatory training session which will be held about two weeks prior to the competition.
All UWL faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend the competition on May 3, 2024 in 3314 Union during the Research & Creativity Symposium.
What is the competition?
Students will have three minutes to present their research findings and/or original ideas through a short "quick pitch" to a panel of judges.
Presenters should consider and explain the impact of their research or innovative ideas and explain how their ideas could benefit the local economy (e.g., development of a new product, technology, or service) and/or society (e.g. changes in public policy and/or benefits to the environment.
What are the prizes?
Cash prizes will be offered to the winning presentation from each campus.
Winners can go on to present at the statewide competition at WSTS in summer 2024, where there will be a cash prize as well.
What will students learn by participating?
In general, students will learn communication and presentation skills. Specifically, students will learn key skills, including how to present their ideas:
- in understandable language in less than 3 minutes
- in ways that convey the relevance of their work to society
- using non-confidential terms
- without disclosing patentable or proprietary ideas.
When and where is the competition?
For the 2023-2024 academic year, UWL's 6th annual competition will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 in 3314 Union, 10am-12pm, hosted by URC and WiSys.
Do I need to register if I just want to attend?
No registration is required for anyone wanting to attend WiSys Quick Pitch @ UW-La Crosse. Registration is only required for UWL students wanting to compete.
