With the transition to Single Pay the Department Chair stipends will need to revert to being paid by a separate payment, rather than a temporary base adjustment (TBA).
For Fiscal Year 2021 Human Resources informed the Department Chairs and their Supervisors that the chair stipend would transition from being paid as an additional payment line (i.e. like an overload payment) to a Temporary Base Salary Adjustment (TBA). This change came with added obstacles and audits for the Human Resources team that were not foreseen. After further discussion with other UW institutions, we are reverting to processing the stipends as an additional payment line. Department Chairs were all notified via a personalized memo on 8/17/21 of this change. The memo below was provided in the memo with the needed information including pay dates. There is no action needed by you as business managers or the budget office for this change.

Human Resources has made a change to how Department Chair Stipends are paid. UWL HR will be processing overload payments to you on the biweekly payroll schedule during the academic year. Starting with the 9A paycheck paid on 9/23/2021 you will receive $135.00 per biweekly paycheck. Your final FY22 payment will be on the 6A paycheck paid on 6/16/2022. Your total Stipend is $2700.00 ($135.00 x 20 paychecks = $2700.00).
