Faye Ellis, ’01 and ’05, joined UWL’s Biology Department as a lecturer 14 years ago. Ellis not only inspires students through volunteer work outside the classroom, she has also been recognized for the work she does inside the class. Ellis received UWL’s Eagle Teaching Excellence Award in 2017, an award that originates with student nominations. She has also been recognized for her contributions to the community with the YWCA Tribute to Outstanding Women in 2012.

UWL senior and biochemistry major Ross Soens will graduate in May. During his time at UWL, Soens has received an Undergraduate Research and Creativity Grant and a College of Science and Health Dean’s Distinguished Fellowship. He has presented at national conferences including the national American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology meeting, and taken his research to the state capitol for Research in the Rotunda.
