By UW-L student Melissa Moss UW-L's Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) team conducted the Thermal Comfort Survey Jan. 30 - Feb. 18 to get feedback from students, faculty and staff to continue to make Centennial Hall comfortable. Image of Centennial Hall. One significant finding of the survey was the temperature in classrooms and study rooms in the building needs improvement. Some lack of satisfaction had to do with not being aware of the requirements for having a LEED certified, energy-saving building like Centennial Hall. To address this issue, FP&M will create a plan that will inform any building occupants of such requirements when calls reporting an issue come in and through the other communication channels. Centennial Hall was awarded LEED® Gold certification in January 2013, establishing UW-L as not only a university committed to providing students with a great education, but also environmentally sustainable facilities. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a national green building certification system. The survey functioned as a way to ensure that the building is operating at the highest level of sustainability while still ensuring that those inside of it are comfortable with the environment. Anyone using the building is encouraged to report concerns to the Facilities Management Office at 608.785.8585 or by submitting an online work request.
