OCW Book Club summer read is Stephen King’s '11/22/63'
UW-L’s Organization of Campus Women Book Club will discuss Stephen King's 11/22/63 at noon Thursday, July 19, in Murphy’s Mug.
In the book King tells the story of a small-town teacher who goes back in time to stop one of the watershed events of American history — the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Participation in the OCW Book Club is open to all faculty, staff and students.
Mark your calendar: Kitty Club social set for Aug. 23
Save the date. The Kitty Club summer social will be Thursday, Aug. 23, at Features in Holmen. A social hour runs from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Dinner is set for 5:30 p.m. Membership in the Kitty Club and participation in their two annual events is a time-honored tradition at UW-L. The club was started as a way to support female clerical staff on campus. Members would toss money into a “kitty” to purchase gifts and host social events. Membership is now open to both males and females in clerical support and related positions. The group continues to build relationships and provide networking opportunities for those with ties to UW–L. The club is holding the August social rather than a picnic. Those attending will order from Features' regular menu. To attend, contact Pat Clements at 783.1213 or pclements@uwlax.edu by Tuesday, Aug. 20.
