Transitioning from high school to college isn’t easy. Students adjust to new faces, living quarters, schedules and expectations. UW-La Crosse attempts to make that move easier through New Student Orientation, nearly two weeks of activities and events.
Students will have the opportunity to learn about UW-L traditions, ask questions of UW-L faculty during a panel discussion, listen to the Chancellor's band, the FurLow Riders, run a 5K and much more. See a complete list of activities.
At orientation, students begin to see what it means to be a college student, says Jennie Hartzheim, UW-L student services coordinator.
“A big part of that is building relationships,” she says. “A lot of the activities are structured so students have opportunity to meet each other and start making connections.”
This year’s orientation is Thursday, Aug. 30, through the first week of classes. Classes start Tuesday, Sept. 4.
