Elhindi named Information Technology Services assistant vice chancellor and chief information officer

Mohamed A. Elhindi has been named UW-L’s assistant vice chancellor for Information Technology Services and chief information officer. Elhindi, who currently serves as chief information officer at Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical in Winona, will begin his appointment as CIO at UW-L Monday, Feb. 14. Elhindi has been CIO at Southeast Technical since 1999 with college-wide responsibilities for information technology at the Winona and Red Wing campuses. He has previously served in information technology positions at Winona State University, Mayo Health Systems and Medtronic Inc. Elhindi moved to the United States from Khartoum, Sudan, in 1989, and currently serves as an international systems adviser for the United Nations Development Program. He earned a doctorate degree in information systems from Nova Southeastern University in telecommunications from Saint Mary’s University and a bachelor's degree in management information systems from Winona State University.
