Findings based on least amount of crime per capita

UW-La Crosse is once again on a list of safest campuses across the country. Rentcollegepads.com, an organization that helps college students find a good place to live, ranked UWL number 11 out of more than 500 colleges and universities. It’s the only Wisconsin school in the top 25. UWL Police Chief Scott McCullough says his officers contribute to the high ranking. “We are proud that the professionalism of our police officers is being recognized as they focus on working with the campus community to make UWL as safe as possible,” says McCullough. “Students say that whenever an incident has occurred, the student body comes together to support and raise awareness,” reports RentCollegePads.com. “The presence of sworn police officers and emergency telephones around campus also help promote a safe environment.” The findings are based on on-campus criminal offenses between 2011 and 2015 reported to the U.S. Department of Education. According to the study, there are only about three crimes per year at UWL. Topping the list is Pace University-New York, which averaged two crimes per year. Last year, UWL ranked number nine.
