April 23 event highlights research and creativity of the campus community.

April 23 event highlights research and creativity of the campus community

UW-La Crosse students, faculty and staff will present their research through oral presentations, poster displays, gallery exhibits, and artistic performances during the annual Research & Creativity Symposium Tuesday, April 23.

The event will be from 9 a.m.-1:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, The Bluffs, Student Union.

The event, which includes more than 200 poster, oral and exhibit presentations, highlights research and creativity accomplishments of the campus community and the important role faculty and academic staff play as mentors in the scholarly activity process. The UWL Research & Creativity Symposium encourages dissemination of scholarly work results from all disciplines represented in the UWL academic community.

Several community-focused projects include:

Poster presentations from 9-10:20 a.m., The Bluffs, Student Union

· Does a community-based physical activity program improve balance for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease? By UWL students: Molly Carlson, Rachel Davis and Joseph McInerney.

· Microplastics in the Upper Mississippi River: Fact or Fiction? By Courtney Baker, UWL undergraduate student

· Examining the Community Supported Agriculture Program of an Organic Farm. By Olivia Schauls, undergraduate student

Oral presentations

· 10:30-10:55 a.m., 3120 Student Union: Predator-predator interactions? Are gray wolves (Canis lupus) affecting the spatial distribution of mesopredators ( mid-ranking predators in the food chain) in central Wisconsin? By Erynn McNeill, undergraduate student

· 12:30-12:55 p.m., 3110 Student Union: The Impact of Job Stability on Health Outcomes. By Melissa Clement, undergraduate student
