The story of how UW-La Crosse alum Matthew Brantner has revived a statewide organization dedicated to conservation and job preparation is being recognized statewide in the UW System initiative, Knowledge Powers Wisconsin. WisCorps, which has worked on many projects for the City of La Crosse, is a non-profit conservation corps that employs young people ages 16-25 to do conservation projects on public lands across Wisconsin and beyond.
The initiative with UW System and the state addresses the economic difficulties regional businesses face by providing additional resources to more effectively meet their needs to create growth and jobs. The efforts will be spearheaded in the new Center for Entrepreneurship, Sustainability and International Trade, located in 120 Wimberly Hall.
The story is highlighted on the Knowledge Powers Wisconsin homepage at http://www.uwpowerswi.com/. The direct link to the article: http://www.uwpowerswi.com/good-to-the-corps-uw-la-crosse-graduate-revives-statewide-organization-dedicated-to-conservation-job-preparation/
The Knowledge Powers Wisconsin site has been developed by UW System, with help from all campuses, to show how Wisconsin’s public universities, colleges and extension networks are working to improve the state’s competitive edge by leveraging the state’s human capital, supporting business and industry, and strengthening local communities.
