AUTHOR’S TALK WITH MATTHEW J. HEFTI

A Hard and Heavy Thing was written by former UWL student Matthew Hefti, who was an explosive ordinance disposal technician deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq twice. Hefti is currently a law student at UW-Madison. Meet Matthew and learn about his experiences at an author talk at 7:00 p.m., November 7, at the Veterans Studio Theater in the Weber Center for the Performing Arts in downtown La Crosse. The event is free, but tickets are requested and can be reserved here. A Hard and Heavy Thing was selected by the Women's National Book Association as a Great Group Reads Selection for National Book Group Month, October 2016. Booklist named A Hard and Heavy Thing as one of the top 10 first novels of 2016, and Audible.com just released the audio book. The event is presented by UWL's Murphy Library, the La Crosse Public Library, and the Weber Center for the Performing Arts.
