Topic is COVID-19: Supporting small business with strategies, financial relief

An interactive webinar will provide one-on-one consulting support for area small businesses to help them more effectively develop a business and financial strategy in response to COVID-19.

The Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UW-La Crosse and the La Crosse Area Development Corp. (LADCO) are launching the interactive webinar, “COVID-19: Supporting Small Business – Business Strategies and Financial Relief,” with sessions starting at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2. The webinar will repeat at various days and times through Thursday, April 9. Participants should sign up for only one session because the content is the same; capacity is limited.

The free workshop is an interactive opportunity for small business owners to gain insight needed to develop a strategy to address business and financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar will address various forms of financial relief available to small businesses. Participants will be able to access the SBDC’s free consulting services to assist them in defining a business strategy, along with how to identify and seek financial support needed to proceed. LADCO also will be available to assist small businesses in connecting with state, county, and municipal staff and resources.

“There is a lot of information available to business owners regarding COVID-19 and its impact,” notes SBDC Director Anne Hlavacka. “Many business owners need help to identify their strategy to move forward and access the financial and other resources they need to position their business in these challenging times.”

Hlavacka says the SBDC is providing the webinar to help businesses proactively access resources so they can create a more effective financial and business strategy.

LADCO Executive Director Jorge Beltran agrees that the webinar is key at a critical time for small businesses. “This webinar series seeks to assist area businesses effectively navigate the financial business resources available and provide the support needed to address the short and long financial hardships businesses face as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” explains Beltran. “The resources are out there and we seek to help businesses understand how to maximize the impact of these programs.”

While the webinar and consulting support are free, registration is required. To register, visit https://wisconsinsbdc.org/centers/lacrosse/classes/. For additional information about the event, visit www.uwlax.edu/sbdc or email sbdc@uwlax.edu.

The SBDC is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance.
