UW-L Medical Dosimetry Program Director Nishele Lenards and radiation therapy program students Alisen Fitzpatrick and Mindy Opelt were awarded national scholarships by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).
[caption id="attachment_1556" align="alignleft" width="134" caption="Nishele Lenards, right, was one of four nationally to receive a $5,000 Elekta Radiation Therapy Educator Scholarship."][/caption]Lenards was one of four U.S. educators pursuing advanced degrees who received a $5,000 Elekta Radiation Therapy Educators Scholarship. Lenards is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in educational technology and E-Learning from Northcentral University in Prescott Valley, Ariz. Lenards received the scholarship from representatives of Elekta at the ASRT Radiation Therapy conference held Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in San Diego.

"][/caption]Fitzpatrick and Opelt were two of 19 radiation therapy students to receive $5,000 Varian Student scholarships. Fitzpatrick is a senior in the radiation therapy program and is currently completing her clinical internship at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Opelt is an intern at University of Wisconsin Hospitals & Clinics in Madison. Opelt received her scholarship from representatives of the ASRT and Varian at the ASRT Radiation Therapy conference held Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in San Diego.
