WIAA State Track & Field meet runs June 3-4

The 121st Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys Track and Field Championships and the 46th Girls Track and Field Championships will be held Friday and Saturday, June 3-4, at the Veterans Memorial Stadium Complex at UW-La Crosse. The meet features two sessions Friday. Division 1 events begin at 9:30 a.m. with the competition proceeding in the order of events. Division 2 and 3 events begin at 3 p.m. The competition resumes Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The order of the finals for each event Saturday begins with Division 3, followed by Divisions 2 and 1, respectively. Tickets are $8 for each session or $12 for both sessions Friday if purchased at the stadium. Tickets may also be purchased online with a convenience fee. Expect traffic congestion during WIAA State Track and Field Meet The WIAA State Track Meet runs Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4, at UW-La Crosse. Expect extensive delays and congestion on La Crosse Street and Highway 16 from Interstate 90 to the university. Take alternative routes if possible. “Take your time and be patient,” advises UWL Police Chief Scott McCollough. “Don’t get angry, watch for pedestrians and please stay off of your phone.” There will be three entry points for vehicles to campus: East Avenue at La Crosse Street, Pine Street at Campbell Road, and the La Crosse Street entrance to the Recreational Eagle Center. All other streets and alleys will be blocked. High school athletes and coaches will start arriving around 3 p.m. Thursday, June 2, while traffic direction and control will start at 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday. MTU buses will not run on campus and some high school buses will park on Badger Street. Parking on campus will be $8 per day.
