Astronomically Correct tackles common myths and answers questions about the night sky.
Is the north star the brightest star? How big are stars? Can a comet hit the earth?
A planetarium program, Astronomically Correct, aims to tackle common myths and answer questions about the night sky. Sessions are at 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, in the planetarium in 18 Cowley Hall. Parking is available for free in the adjacent lot.
“If there is something you are just dying to know, you’ll have some knowledgeable observers there to answer your questions,” said Jonathan Ringdahl, UW-L alum and member of the La Crosse Area Astronomical Society (LCAAS).
The event is organized by the LCAAS and the Myrick Hixon EcoPark.
The cost for adults is $3 and $2 for kids. Reserve a spot by calling the Myrick Hixon EcoPark at 784.0303.
Funds raised will benefit the EcoPark and the LCAAS.
Also people are invited to a free evening of observing of the moon, Saturn and more from 9 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Myrick Hixon EcoPark followed by an Astronomy Fair April 17 at the EcoPark. For more information visit the LCAAS website at www.lcaas.org.
