Annual All-Student Juried Exhibition opens

A variety of artwork by UWL students will fill the university’s gallery during the annual All-Students Juried Exhibition. The show opens at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, in the University Art Gallery, first floor on the Center of the Arts. A ceremony highlighting 13 works receiving awards begins at 4:30 p.m. The show runs through March 5. This year’s show includes 35 works by 22 student artists with a variety of majors, chosen from 82 pieces by 41 students. The exhibition includes sculpture, paintings, prints, photographs, metals, jewelry, ceramics, drawings, illustrations and mixed media. Judges for this year’s exhibition were Susannah Magers, curator of art and public engagement at the Rochester (Minnesota) Art Center and Niki Havekost, educator and artist from Rochester. Regular gallery hours are noon-8 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, noon-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and during events in Toland Theatre. All exhibitions and events at the University Art Gallery are free and open to the public. The exhibition is supported by the UWL Department of Art, College of Liberal Studies, School of Arts and Communications, UWL Student Association and donors through the UWL Foundation. The show will close with a family and community reception with an awards presentation from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, April 16, hosted by Congressman Ron Kind and Tawni Kind.
