Senior citizen speed dating event returns to UW-La Crosse April 30
In November 2018, UWL faculty member Dawn Norris and UWL sociology students coordinated a speed dating event for senior citizens. The event was a success — generating both national media buzz and many new relationships. Now, a second event is in the works.
Adults age 60 or older are invited to sign up for the Tuesday, April 30 event to meet a new friend or companion. Check in is at 1:45 p.m. and the event will run from 2:15-3:30 p.m. in room 3110, Student Union, 521 East Ave. N., La Crosse. Registration is required.
For more information or to sign up contact Dawn Norris, UWL associate professor, at 608.785.6771 or email dnorris@uwlax.edu. The event is free. Light refreshments and hors d’ oeuvres will be served.
Speed dating is a fun and lively way to meet like-minded singles. Participants get to know a variety of people through a series of five-minute chats.
The event has a full guest list for women, but room is available for more men. Women who would like to participate in a future event can contact Norris to get on a waiting list.
Coverage of the first event has been picked up by U.S. News and World Report, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Wisconsin Public Radio, as well as other media and individual viewers as far away as Los Angeles, New Orleans and Biloxi, Mississippi.Click here to learn more.
