2012 – 2014 New Look to Online Graduate Catalog--Please Check Your Links

The Office of Records and Registration is pleased to announce that the 2012-2014 Graduate Catalog is now available online. This new catalog has an updated look and feel, making it more user-friendly and easier to navigate. We are asking for departments/units that have existing links to the graduate catalog to please check those links to be sure they are still active. It is likely that links have been broken as a result of the new format and we want to be sure that catalog users are not inconvenienced by broken department/unit links. Thanks for your assistance with this! The graduate catalog has been an online catalog for a number of years now, so we continue to encourage people to use the online catalogs whenever possible. However, if anyone wants to order printed catalogs, they may contact Sara Nogle (DigiCopy) at 608.782.4355 directly or email nogle@dcopy.net. The price will be approximately $6.70/catalog (the quantity does not matter). DigiCopy will bill directly to the department/unit account and will deliver the catalogs directly to the department/unit office. The catalog is also available in a PDF format in the event that only a section of the catalog needs to be printed. Murphy Library does have electronic copies of many older catalogs.

UW-L lightens up with new, energy-efficient lampposts

UW-L is replacing all the lampposts that illuminate pedestrian walkways south of Badger Street over the course of the summer. Crews have already started. The new lights are painted black with a vintage, decorative style, pictured right. They will likely be completely installed by the end of the summer. Then, the old lights will be removed. The new lampposts have LED light fixtures and will be 30 to 40 percent more energy efficient than the old lights, says says Matt Lewis, executive director of Facilities, Planning and Management. The light fixtures are designed to add more light to walkways while not increasing light pollution in the surrounding area.     Jeff C. Bryan, chemistry, presented "Fukushima" to local sections of the American Chemical Society in Emporia, Kan. June 11 and Bartlesville, Okla. June 12. The talk covered how the radiation releases from the Fukushima reactors came about, how they could've been prevented and the possible health effects for the local population and radiation workers.
