UW-L’s financial literacy program, It Makes Cents!, will present how to make crafts on a budget from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Need some inexpensive gift ideas for the holidays? Learn how to make something special for someone you love on a budget. UW-L’s financial literacy program, It Makes Cents!, will present how to make crafts on a budget from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, on the first floor of Reuter Hall.
“It is less expensive, it is fun and it gives the gift more meaning,” says Amanda Gasper, UW-L’s financial literacy coordinator. “It is from the heart — not from the store.”
Gasper will show students how to make handmade holiday cards, ornaments, bottle-cap magnets, gift boxes and containers, and shadow boxes. Space and supplies are limited. First come, first serve.
The crafts are easy and anyone can learn. The typical budget range to make each gift is from $2-$10. “It will be much less if you share costs with a friend and make items together,” says Gasper.
