An open house to celebrate the new Institute for Campus Excellence (ICE) will be from 3:30-5 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, in the Murphy Library Resource Center. A program begins at 3:45 p.m., in 150 Murphy, featuring Chancellor Joe Gow, Provost Heidi Macpherson and Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Bob Hoar. Refreshments will be served. The ICE aims to offer UW-L faculty and staff a space to come together to discover, share and explore concepts, methods and resources related to teaching and research. The center will occupy three rooms in the Murphy Library Resource Center — 150, 151 and 152 — all located across the hall from the main library entrance. The facility's three separate spaces integrate the latest in presentation and collaborative teaching and learning technologies. For instance, laptops can be connected and projected on large screens to share information. Distance education tools will allow interactions with people around the world. The event will also include a self-guided tour of new updates and improvements to Murphy Library, including several stations that showcase technological innovations, digital collections, redesign concepts and more.
