Ziegelman to lead fundraising, alumni engagement efforts
Allison Ziegelman has been named vice chancellor for University Advancement at UW-La Crosse and president of the UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation.
Ziegelman had served in both roles on an interim basis since July.
A 2007 UWL graduate (communication studies), Ziegelman returned to her alma mater in September 2023 as the executive director of development.
“I am thrilled that Allison will be leading the UWL Foundation on a permanent basis, and I know she will help lift our alumni engagement and philanthropic efforts to new heights,” Chancellor James Beeby says. “Allison brings so many great qualities to this position: a strong affinity for the institution, an innovative approach to engaging alumni and friends through philanthropy, and a passion for supporting student success. We are fortunate to have her on our team.”
Since returning to UWL, Ziegelman has been instrumental in realizing a number of important gifts and initiatives:
- $1.5 million from Mike and Kathi McGinley to establish UWL’s first named and endowed faculty professorship
- $1.3 million from Ron and Jane Rada to establish endowed fellowships for the director and associate director of UWL’s River Studies Center
- Another successful One Day for UWL, which generated more than $430,000 in gifts supporting student success (offline gifts are still being counted).
Before returning to UWL, Ziegelman was the senior director of Development at Montana State University. At Montana State, she helped secure a $102 million gift supporting the College of Nursing and a $10 million gift supporting the College of Agriculture. She was also part of a successful comprehensive campaign.
Ziegelman says she looks forward to “working with UWL’s amazing alumni and friends and leading an enthusiastic team to highlight and accelerate philanthropy on campus.”
