A look at adapted PE, cardiac rehab programs

Three mentors of UW-L's Adapted Physical Education and Clinical Exercise Physiology (Cardiac Rehabilitation) programs will share their stories at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition.

Centennial presentation will take historical look at UW-La Crosse programs

People who helped two UW-La Crosse exercise and sport science programs become nationally known will revisit their successes during an upcoming presentation. Three mentors of the Adapted Physical Education and Clinical Exercise Physiology (Cardiac Rehabilitation) programs will share their stories at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition. The presentation will begin with a social with refreshments at 6. The events are free and open to all. The presentation will feature Professor Emeriti Pat DiRocco and Lane Goodwin who will discuss the Adapted Physical Education Program. Professor Emeritus Phil Wilson will join Professor John Porcari to highlight the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Clients and students from the current Clinical Exercise Physiology Program will conclude with a short cardiac dance. The program is part of the centennial celebration series honoring 100 years of premier physical and fitness education in the UW-L Exercise and Sport Science Department.
