Zach Wahls, the Iowa native who became well known after his testimony in front of the Iowa Judiciary regarding their proposal to ban gay marriage went viral, will speak at UW-L April 15.

An Iowa college student who had video of him appearing before state officials talking about his two moms go viral will speak at UW-La Crosse.
Zach Wahls will share his views on marriage rights at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition.
Wahls grew up with two mothers and was often teased about this. It was not until he was an adolescent that he realized more than just his peers found being gay inappropriate. As he grew up he became a strong advocate for the gay community. He gave a testimony in January 2011 in front of the Iowa Judiciary regarding their proposal to ban gay marriage. After the video went viral he became a major force in the gay movement for equality.
Tickets in advance are $2 for UW-L students and $5 for others. Tickets the day of the show are $4 for UW-L students and $7 for others. For tickets or more information, contact the Cartwright Information Counter at 785.8898. The event is part of the university’s Campus Activities Board Series.
