UW-L graduate to sing with jazz vocalists
UW-La Crosse graduate and American Idol finalist Reed Grimm will return to perform at this year’s UW-La Crosse Vocal Jazz Festival.
Grimm will sing with the university’s award-winning vocal jazz ensemble – The Collegiates — during a vocal master class and final performance running from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in Annett Recital Hall, Center for the Arts.
Tickets are $5 for general admission. Only 100 tickets will be sold — the other seats in will go to the nine high school vocal jazz ensemble festival participants.
Tickets – cash only — will be available in advance Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 22 and 23, in Music Department Listening Lab, 145 Center for the Arts. Tickets are first come, first served. Any remaining tickets will be sold from 1:30-3:15 prior to the concert in the center’s lobby.
This year’s instrumentalist guest artists for the Jazz Festival are New York City saxophonist Dave Pietro and his group, Embrace. They will join the UW-L Jazz Ensemble I along with the tri-state’s top high school groups in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for others. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
In addition to the evening concert middle school and high school jazz instrumental ensembles and combos will be performing from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. throughout Cartwright Center.
