Sustainability charette for new science lab building set for Nov. 12
Architects and consultants for the new science lab building (Cowley Phase I) will conduct a sustainability charrette from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, in Graff Main Hall Auditorium. Staff and students are invited to attend and provide input on strategies and campus expectations regarding sustainability in the design, construction and operation of the new $82 million science lab building. The next Album Encounters multimedia light and laser show will feature Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy" at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, in 20 Cowley Hall. Admission is $5. The Planetarium’s Public Program for November is "Stargazer." The talk, followed by a multimedia audiovisual presentation, will be at 1 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 15, 22 and 29. A "You're somebody's type" blood drive will be held from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 19 and 20, in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition. UW-L's fraternities and sororities, along with the Leadership & Involvement Center, are sponsoring the blood drive.Praxis Core info meeting to be held Nov. 20
Students planning to apply to the School of Education should attend a Praxis Core informational meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in 1401 Centennial Hall. Taking the Praxis Core test is a requirement to being admitted to the School of Education. RSVP to Bethany Brent at bbrent@uwlax.edu. The School of Education, Student Wisconsin Education Association and the Office of Multicultural Student Services are sponsoring the session.Submit proposals for inclusion in Diversity Dialogues 2015 by Dec. 1
Presentation and panel discussion proposals are being accepted until 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, for the 2015 Diversity Dialogues. The event is set for Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, in Cartwright Center. Diversity Dialogues celebrates different aspects of diversity and includes presentations, panel discussions, exhibits and displays. Concurrent presentations will take place in Cartwright Center from approximately 9:55 a.m.–3:10 p.m. Faculty and instructional staff who want to present or be a part of panel discussions should complete the Diversity Dialogues Program Proposal Application and submit abstracts explaining discussion topics in no more than 100 words, highlighting the most important aspects. Twelve submissions will be chosen for up to 50-minute presentations. All participants will receive detailed instructions upon acceptance of their abstract. Presentations will be selected on the basis of diversity of topics, relation to current issues and availability of presenters. Those who have authored books or done research on diversity topics are asked to submit proposals to showcase their work in the exhibit area.
