Chancellor All-University Address, luncheon are Jan. 18; deadline to purchase tickets for luncheon is Jan. 17

Chancellor Joe Gow will give UW-L’s All-University Spring Address from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, in Graff Hall Main Auditorium. Refreshments are available at 10 a.m. Bring a non-perishable food item to help kick off UW-L’s Organization for Campus Women “A Day of Giving” food drive to UW-L’s Helping Our Own food pantry on campus. Items of greatest need are soup, pasta sauce, noodles, cereal/breakfast items and basic hygiene items. Immediately following the address will be the “2012 Chancellor’s Booyah Bowl” luncheon in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition. Tickets are $6.75. Student Affairs graduate program open house set for Jan. 19

An open house will be held in honor of the newest department on campus, the Department of Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education. The event runs from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, in the Cameron Hall of Nations, Centennial Hall. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.  

ATP 'Privilege Unplugged VI' production set for Jan. 22

The Awareness through Performance (ATP) spring 2012 production is set for 4 p.m. with a 7 p.m. encore performance Sunday, Jan.  22, in Graff Main Hall Auditorium. The shows are free and open to the public. Students, faculty, staff and family and friends are invited to attend. "ATP: Privilege Unplugged VI" showcases the passions, stories and perspectives of UW-L student leaders who hope to create awareness of privilege and oppression. Passenger van training set for Jan. 25

Passenger van training  is set for 8 a.m. to early afternoon, Wednesday, Jan. 25, for faculty, staff and students who plan to drive to UW-L related trips requiring 12-15 passenger vans. Sessions are limited to eight people. Cost is $60 for new training or $40 for a refresher course. The next training course after this one will be held fall 2012. Diversity Dialogues planned for Feb. 1

UW-L's third Annual Diversity Dialogues will be held from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, in Cartwright Center.  The UW–L Inclusive Excellence Initiative celebrates diversity and inclusion. A diversity resource room will be open from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in Port O’ Call, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition.

Remember to post disability syllabus and access statements in syllabi, classrooms

To inform students with a disability of accommodations available to them on campus, the Office of Affirmative Action and the Office of Disability Resource Services encourage faculty and instructional academic staff to place the statement below in syllabi at the beginning of each semester, on blackboards and bulletin boards in the classrooms where they teach and to add it to emails or web-based course materials they use. The method(s) used should be based on the ability to provide this statement to students in their classes. “Any student with a documented disability (e.g., physical, learning, psychiatric, vision, or hearing, etc.) who needs to arrange reasonable accommodations must contact the instructor and the Disability Resource Services Office (165 Murphy Library) at the beginning of the semester.” Note: Students currently using Disability Resource Services will have a copy of a contract that verifies they are qualified students with disabilities who have documentation on file in the Disability Resource Service Office. When planning conferences, events and activities, faculty and staff need to ensure that someone in each office or department is responsible for handling requests for accommodations.
