UW-L in the news

It's a word Republican legislators in Madison used often and at high volume earlier this year when criticizing the University of Wisconsin System because of its reserve funds. And while it could be argued that at least some amount of reserve funds was prudent, the UW System could have been much more transparent in explaining its process and philosophy for maintaining the funds. The need for transparency at a public institution is crucial. That's why we're puzzled that Assembly Speaker Rep. Robin Vos, R-Rochester, says he may consider changing state law to allow finalists for key UW jobs to remain confidential … UW-L art apprentices leave for Calif. to assist with - WXOW News 19, Jan. 4. … the Pump House Regional Arts Center. As part of that total, on April 16, 2013, Gow was issued a check for $1,054.80, one of 15 disbursements he received during the fiscal year … You can find this information and much more about state government expenditures at www.openbook.wi.gov, a website that finally launched last week … "UW -L student died during winter break trip," La Crosse Tribune, Jan. 8.  A  University of Wisconsin-La Crosse student died Friday during a trip to Colorado over winter break.
