CATL recommends all UWL instructors begin migrating course material from D2L to Canvas, support sessions available in MayC

Hundreds of UW-La Crosse instructors have already started learning how to build courses, create assignments and migrate their course content into UWL’s new learning management system, Canvas.

It is recommended all UWL instructors begin making this transition at their earliest convenience and complete migration of course content by Friday, Aug. 16. D2L will no longer be available for instructional or non-instructional purposes starting Sunday, Sept. 1. D2L files will no longer be accessible starting Friday, Sept. 13.

As UWL enters the final months of transitioning from D2L to Canvas, additional support will be available. In May, staff from UWL’s Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning will offer sessions to help instructors migrate their D2L courses to Canvas and become familiar with basic features and functions in Canvas. See May support opportunities below.

What steps do I need to take?

  1. Migrate your D2L course files to Canvas. You will need to save the files from ALL of your D2L courses, not just your fall 2019 courses.
  2. After migrating your files to Canvas, you may need to sort and reorganize them in Canvas.
  3. Learn basic features of Canvas so you can prepare and teach your fall courses in Canvas.
