UW-La Crosse to feature student work from art class

UW-L students took intangible ideas and turned them into visual art for an upcoming show.

Madline Thorn’s “Origami series: Rabbit and Butterfly”[/caption] UW-La Crosse students whose assignment in an art class was to take intangible ideas and turn them into visual art will share their creations in an upcoming show. “Minds and Matters: Artwork from the 399 Professional Practices and Problems Class,” opens with a reception from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in the Student Gallery, 340 Center for the Arts. Hilson describes art as “a very expressive and useful tool that can turn many directions.” Lee, a student photographer, portrays gender roles and how “the female form speaks more emotions than it can portray.” Painter Shurbert-Hetzel notes that the show exhibits a wide variety of art media and content explored by some of UW-L’s talented student artists. The exhibit runs through Wednesday, Dec. 10. Regular gallery hours are noon-1:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and 4-6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Admission is free.
