Passing of Dr. James B. Stoltman

Archaeologists throughout the region are mourning the death of James Stoltman, Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jim’s long involvement in research and teaching spanned a wide range of interests and helped launch the careers of many archaeologists, including Connie Arzigian, Jim Theler, Ernie Boszhardt, and Kathy Stevenson of MVAC/UW-L. In Connie’s words, “Our heartfelt condolences on Jim’s passing. He set our generation of archaeologists on our career paths, forever changed us and our students. We will remember him fondly.” We all join Connie in expressing our deepest sympathy to Jim’s family and friends and all the students and colleagues affected by his passing. He will be missed.
