On Monday, Don Lecheler learned Gov. Mike Pence was coming to UWL this week. "Right then I knew I was coming," says the 1982 marketing and management alumnus.
He was among the crowd of community members eager to hear the Vice Presidential Candidate speak at the town hall meeting in Valhalla Thursday afternoon.
Pence talked about the issues and what he and his running mate, Donald Trump, intend to do about them. He then took questions from the crowd, ranging in topics from immigration reform to the economy.
He is the first national candidate to campaign on campus this election cycle.

Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Mike Pence will hold a campaign town hall event at Valhalla in Cartwright Center Thursday. Doors open at noon with the event scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are available on the Trump-Pence campaign website.
UW-La Crosse continues to be a popular place for candidates and elected officials. President Obama visited last July, Gov. Scott Walker makes frequent visits and Vice President Joe Biden campaigned with his wife in 2012.
"I always tell everybody, you can come to La Crosse and you can get some people from Iowa, you can get some people from Minnesota, so you can really hit three states if you come to La Crosse and I think that's important in terms of the campaigns and why they want to come here," UWL's Director of University Centers Larry Ringgenberg told News 8.
