Patricia Markos, director of UWL’s Institute for Professional Studies in Education, along with representatives from the Department of Public Instruction, the La Crosse School District and La Crosse Education Association, and the Whitehall School District, will discuss proposed changes to teacher licensing rules in Wisconsin on Wisconsin Public Radio. Their conversation on “Newsmakers” will cover how licensing changes could affect teachers, rural school districts and UWL’s teacher licensing program. They will cover concerns related to:- A proposed two-tiered system of educator preparation where alternative preparation programs are held to less rigorous standards than institutes for higher education.
