Students volunteer time for biannual youth fitness camp

The Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse was buzzing with students this week – just not the college students that are typically inside. On Monday and Tuesday, dozens of 4-12-year-olds were participating in UWL’s biannual youth fitness camp, says Deb Sazama, the organizer and an Exercise and Sports Science lecturer. The volunteer college students plan to be physical education teachers in the future. The camp serves as a fundraiser to help those students attend state and national conferences for both future and current P.E. teachers. “I went to one two years ago, it was great for networking,” says fifth-year senior Ashley Raucci. “I met teachers, learned new games, created connections to share ideas and help me get to where I want to be after I graduate.”
