Through the eyes of UWL

Posted 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018

UWL fifth-year student Brittany Tashner never played a sport. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t interested in seeing what that experience is like. That sparked an idea for a creative project in one of her photography classes. She strapped a camera onto several of her UWL peers and faculty members to get a glimpse of their view.

Thanks to a grant from UWL’s Undergraduate Research & Creativity program, she was able to buy two go-pros and spend hours editing the footage into a project she called “Through the eyes of UWL.” The video features student-athletes, artists and those involved in student organizations.

“I don’t know if anyone has done anything like this here before,” says the therapeutic recreation major and psychology and photography minor. Tashner showed off her video at one of UWL’s Celebration of Research and Creativity events. Now, she’s hoping more people will take a glimpse into the diverse viewpoints at UWL. “I’m glad people are still watching it,” she says. “There’s so much to offer here.”
