‘A cappella in the USA’ is this year’s theme

UW-La Crosse’s four vocal jazz ensembles will perform arrangements by American composers in their upcoming concert, “A cappella in the USA!” The concert featuring a variety of styles from a variety of style periods gets underway at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, in Annett Recital Hall, Center for the Arts. The concert will feature renewed classics such as “Sweet Georgia Brown” (1925), sung by the Collegiates, to “Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring” (1954), performed by Voices on Vine. Top 40 hits will include La Capella’s cover of “Royals” and Maroon and Gray’s version of “Run To You.” The concert will end with a new arrangement of “God Bless America” presented by all 40 singers. Admission is a $2 with proceeds going to a local charity. Last year the vocal jazz groups raised more than $300 for the on-campus food bank. Audience participation in the fundraising event is greatly appreciated.
