A UW-La Crosse tour will walk the footsteps of Bach in Germany.
Music Professor Gary Walth will lead “Tracing the Footsteps of Johann Sebastian Bach” through the German cities where he lived and worked. The journey begins in Eisenach on June 14, 2013, and concludes in Berlin June 22.
Walth will intersperse informal lectures pertaining to Bach’s life and his compositions throughout the tour. Tour members will attend concerts and visit museums and places of historical significance.
Walth is in his 18th year at the UW-La Crosse. As the director of Choral Music Studies he conducts the Concert Choir, the Vocal Jazz Ensemble and the university’s male chorus Männerchor. He also teaches courses in choral music education and supervises student teachers. An accomplished composer, Walth’s compositions have most recently been featured at regional and national ACDA conventions and are published internationally.
Cost of the tour in Germany is $2,650 per person. Travelers are responsible for their own airfare arrangements to and from Germany. One group transfer will be provided from Frankfurt International Airport on the morning of June 14 to the group hotel in the Eisenach area. One group transfer will also be provided from the group hotel in the Berlin area on the morning of June 22 to Berlin-Tegel International Airport.
A $650 deposit is due by Feb. 1, 2013, to reserve a spot. Get complete tour and registration information from UW-L Continuing Education and Extension at www.uwlax.edu/conted/tours/bach.html or spham@uwlax.edu.
