‘Living with Type 1’ event set at UW-La Crosse

A Sunday luncheon program will reach out to La Crosse area families living with Type 1 diabetes.

A Sunday luncheon program will reach out to La Crosse area families living with Type 1 diabetes. “Living With Type 1 — A Family Affair” begins at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at the Cleary Alumni & Friends Center. It will feature lunch from Outback Steakhouse, including a six-ounce sirloin steak, vegetables, Caesar salad and bread. A short program about the latest on the artificial pancreas and more will feature Dr. Jennifer McVean, pediatric endocrinologist at Gundersen Lutheran, and Merri Jo Guggenbuehl, a registered nurse and diabetes educator from Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Healthcare. The event provides an opportunity to connect those living with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) to others who have T1D, along with discovering products to help people live better with the disease. Information about upcoming local events for T1D kids and families will be provided. Tickets are $5 per person and must be purchased in advance. Reserve tickets at http://snurl.com/jdrf-2013.
