The growth and success of business in the 7 Rivers Region is influenced by local, state, national and global economics. At the Fall 2016 Economic Indicators breakfast at UW-La Crosse, Economics Department Chair TJ Brooks will offer insights and perspectives on the region’s local economy. The breakfast is Thursday, Sept. 22, in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition. Breakfast will be served at 7 a.m. with the program beginning at 7:20 and ending at 9. Registration is $25. Pre-registration is required by Tuesday, Sept. 20. Seating is limited. Online registration Guest speaker Scott J. Brown, senior vice president and chief economist at Raymond James & Associates, will offer perspective on why this year is unique. Brown will share insights on the impact of international affairs, elections and interest rates on the national economy. Brown serves on the economic advisory committees of the American Bankers Association and the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIMFA) and has appeared on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, and Fox Business News and is widely quoted in the financial press. Economic Indicators: An Update for the 7 Rivers Region is a regional business forum sponsored by State Bank Financial in collaboration with the UWL College of Business Administration and La Crosse Tribune. The event is coordinated by the UWL Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation and the UWL Small Business Development Center. For additional information, call 608.785.8648.     About TJ Brooks, UWL Professor and Economics Department Chair Brooks received a doctorate in economics at UW–Milwaukee in 1999. He is also principal owner of Taggert Brooks Economic Consulting. His research interests cover a wide variety of topics, including the business cycle, regional banking, and the economics of health. His work has been published in several scholarly journals, including his most recent, a cross-country study of the path of GDP’s response to a currency crisis. In the past, he has taught macro theory, money and banking. This semester he is teaching business research methods. He is frequently interviewed on local TV, Wisconsin Public Radio, and has had his work featured in the Economist.   About Scott J. Brown, Senior Vice President, Chief Economist, Raymond James & Associates Brown joined Raymond James in 1993 where he provides U.S. and global economic analysis and commentary. He serves on the economic advisory committees of the American Bankers Association and the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association and has appeared on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, and Fox Business News and is widely quoted in the financial press.
