End of Semester - Fall 2013

Posted p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013

Later hours, new silent study space, more computers, and options for getting help.

It's the end of the semester, and Murphy Library is offering a number of resources and services to help students succeed.

New Silent Room

Need 100% silence? Then we have the perfect space for you. It's Room 12, along the west wall of the library basement. The Silent Room has the following rules:
  • No talking or whispering
  • No group work
  • Cell phones and other devices should be off
  • Door should remain closed
The room seats 8 people, so if there's a free seat, feel free to enter and enjoy the most silent space on campus! In addition, check out the library floorplans to find other quiet study areas and group study rooms.

Additional computers available

To provide more computers during the busy period at the end of the semester, the library is opening an additional room with computers. Room 30, a computer classroom in the basement of the library, will be available during all library open hours starting December 1, 2013. Students will be able to use the desktop computers in that room individually or in groups.

Late Night Hours

The library is open later than usual during finals week. From Friday, Dec. 13 to Monday, Dec. 16, the library is open from 7:30 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. with the exception of Saturday, when it closes at midnight, and Sunday when it opens at 11:00 a.m. See all finals week hours here and see all library hours here (including special hours during winter break).
