Telework Policy Updates
As a reminder, on August 1, 2024, the Universities of Wisconsin updated their Administrative Policy 1228 - Telecommuting (Remote Work) Policy and Telecommuting Agreement Form. A summary of the changes and updates are detailed below. Please review the full policy for all updates and changes.
Telecommuting Agreement Form and Action Required:
- A renewed telework agreement form for every remote work employee must be completed with the a new form prior to September 16, 2024 (linked instructions here);
- Work with your supervisor on the successful completion of a renewed Telecommuting Agreement form;
- Agreements completed prior to April 1, 2024 are considered expired as of July 31, 2024;
- Agreements may not be longer than 1 year in duration and updated at the start of each fiscal year;
- Next year’s agreement will be completed in Workday.
Summary of Policy Updates and Clarifications:
- Definitions in the types of remote work and when an associated agreement is required;
- Requirement that the Telecommuting (remote work) agreements are to be renewed and approved annually;
- Any out of state and international remote work requires additional levels of approvals beyond the campus;
- Specifies that travel reimbursement to headquarter locations can only be approved when the employee is assigned to work remotely.
