Summer parking reminders

Anyone who would like to purchase a parking permit for the upcoming academic year should do so as soon as possible. Student parking permit sales will soon begin and limit space. Visit the parking website or call the office at 785.8061. Lot cleaning, testing, construction and repair work will be scheduled all summer. Some work is weather dependent. If a lot is blocked off, do not move the cones. A valid permit is good in any other lot. Parking regulations are in force all summer. Parking services will make every effort to send targeted email reminders about closure dates, but contractor scheduling may result in "just in time" assignments. Freedom Fest is Saturday, June 14, and activities are going on throughout the day. Those working on campus can expect disruptions to the Saturday routine, including lot closures.

Sidewalk replacements, repairs planned

Replacement of the sidewalks north of the Recreational Eagle Center will begin Monday, June 9, and be completed by Friday, June 13. The following sidewalk areas will be replaced beginning on Thursday, June 12 and be completed by June 27:
  • Between Graff Main Hall and Wittich Hall
  • Handicapped ramp north of Cowley Hall
  • North of Wentz Hall
Campus wide sidewalk repairs will begin Monday, June 16, and take approximately 30 days to complete. View the map showing sidewalk repair locations. Questions can be directed to Doug Pearson at dpearson@uwlax.edu or Kim Tiber at ktiber@uwlax.edu Campus Kudos artwork. Mark Sandheinrich and Jim Wiener, River Studies Center, were coauthors on a paper, "Lacustrine Responses to Decreasing Wet Mercury Deposition Rates — Results From a Case Study in Northern Minnesota," published June 3, 2014, in Environmental Science and Technology. This paper was a collaborative effort involving the U.S. Geological Survey, UW-L, National Park Service and National Atmospheric Deposition Program. Human Resources artwork.
