 Campus forum set for Wednesday, April 4

A panel at UW-La Crosse will discuss the state of the University of Wisconsin System. The “State of the System Forum” runs from 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, in 3314 Student Union. The event is free and open to all. The panel, moderated by UWL Professor Emeritus Joe Heim, will include:
  • Anne Galbraith, UWL Faculty Senate President
  • Peter Hart-Brinson, United Faculty and Academic Staff of UW-Eau Claire (AFT Local #6481) President
  • Tim Higgins, UW System Regent
  • Jacob Schimmel, UWL Student Association President
  • Jennifer Shilling, Wisconsin State Senator
The forum will open with panelists sharing their biggest source of pride and concern for the UW System. Other issues expected to be covered during a question-and-answer session include:
  • UW System restructuring
  • Changing state demographics
  • State budget for education
  • Quality of education
  • Shared governance at UW institutions
  • The Wisconsin Idea
  • Changes to the Chancellor hiring process
  • Freedom of speech
  • Job security and tenure
The forum is organized by the United Academic Professional of UWL (AFT Local #6502).
