UWL gallery season features prints, paintings, ceramics and more
Prints from China and U.S. artists will join sculptural paintings — along with works by UW-La Crosse faculty and students — at the University Gallery during the 2017-18 season. The season kicks off in September with works on paper by Kansas artist Laura Moriarty. All exhibitions are in the University Gallery, located on the first floor of the Center for the Arts. The exhibitions, free and open to all, begin with free opening receptions. The schedule includes: Sept. 7-23: Laura Moriarty: Pay Dirt Opening reception: Thursday, Sept. 7, 4-6 p.m. Sculptural paintings and works on paper explore processes that shape and reshape the earth. Oct. 5-22: What a Relief: Traditional to Experimental Printmaking at Tandem Press
Opening reception: Thursday, Oct. 5, 4-6 p.m.
Fine art prints by nationally recognized artists that push the boundaries of printmaking.
Nov. 3-18: Karen Terpstra: A Cheval Retrospective
Opening reception: Friday, Nov. 3, 4-6 p.m.
UWL Professor of Art Karen Terpstra’s ceramics, 2D and 3D designs to celebrate decades of art making.

Jan. 25-Feb. 10, 2018: China Changes Everything :: Made in Beijing
Opening Reception: Thursday, Jan. 25, 4-6 p.m.
Fine art prints that explore cultural exchange, technology and east-west links.
Feb. 23-March 8: All Student Juried Art Exhibition
Opening reception: Friday, Feb. 23, 4-6 p.m.
New artwork by UWL students from diverse disciplines.
March 22-April 8: Wisconsin 3rd Congressional District High School Exhibition
Opening reception and awards: TBA
Local high school students’ art and creativity.
April 13-May 4: Senior Art Students Exhibition
Opening reception: Friday, April 13, 4-6 p.m.
Works by senior art students graduating in May.
May 12-19: WRAP Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP)
UW-Madison Continuing Studies presents non-professional and emerging artists from across Wisconsin.
Regular gallery hours are: noon-8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; noon-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and by appointment and during events in nearby Toland Theatre.
