Brave a shave for kids with cancer.

Razors will be buzzing to raise money for childhood cancer research Saturday, April 9, at UW-La Crosse. The 10th annual St. Baldrick’s event will run from noon-4 p.m. at UWL ‘s Recreational Eagle Center. The event raises money for childhood cancer research through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. It is open to anyone who wants to have his or her head shaved for the cause, donate or watch. “Even if you are not donating your hair, it’s fun to support and watch those who are,” says Andie Coxey, White Hall senior staff resident assistant. “It really makes you feel the support of the community. We highly encourage those from the La Crosse community to come and check out the event.” More than 50 people donated their hair during last year’s event, raising about $14,200. Organizers hope to reach $15,000 this year. The event has traditionally been organized by Coate Hall; however, this year White Hall is also lending support. About 40 UWL student volunteers will help set up on the day of the event. [caption id="attachment_45482" align="aligncenter" width="685"]Coate Hall volunteers at the 2015 St. Baldrick’s event.
