Winners named for 3rd Congressional District art show

Winners in a competitive art show at UW-L featuring work by young artists from throughout Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District have been named. The exhibit runs through Saturday, April 6.

Winners in a competitive art show at UW-L featuring work by young artists from throughout Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District have been named. Devon Lee, a student from La Crosse Logan High School, took first place with a charcoal titled “Sound.” The full list of winning entries is below. The 17th Annual Congressional Art Competition, “An Artistic Discovery,” runs in the University Art Gallery through Saturday, April 6. The gallery is on the first floor of the Center for the Arts. The exhibit is a culmination of art submitted for the annual contest that recognizes artwork by high school students in the Third Congressional District. A winning entry will be sent to Washington, D.C., to represent the district in a display at the U.S. Capitol. The winning student artist, along with a parent or guardian, will be invited to attend the opening ceremony for "An Artistic Discovery" in Washington, D.C. There will be a reception from 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday with Rep. Ron Kind recognizing student participants and handing out awards. Regular gallery hours are noon-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is free.
