UW-L rents gear for winter fun

Don’t let fluffy, white stuff keep you indoors this season. Visit your alma mater for winter gear to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. UW-L's REC rents snowshoes, skis, sleds and ice skates and more.

Visit your alma mater for winter gear to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. UW-L’s Outdoor Connection, located in the Recreational Eagle Center, rents winter gear to the general public. Winter items available for rent include cross country skis, airboards, snowshoes, sleds, inner tubes, toboggans and ice skates. Costs range from $3 to $8.

Winter Gear Rental

Cross Country Skis: $8 Airboard: $8 Snowshoes: $8 Sled / Inner Tube: $3 Toboggan (5 person) : $3 Ice Skates (figure & hockey) $4 * This is the cost for one day. Each additional day costs $2 for skis, airboards and snowshoes. Each additional days costs $1 for sleds/inner tubes, toboggans and ice skates.

Outdoor Connection – January Hours

Jan. 2-5 Noon-6 p.m. Jan. 7-26 Monday-Wednesday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday/ Friday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday: Noon-6 p.m. Sunday: Closed

Outdoor Connection - Regular hours

Monday-Friday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday: Noon-4 p.m. All trips and excursions are open to alumni, however, students receive priority when space is limited. For more information call 608.785.8860 or visit the Rec Sports equipment rental website.

How To Rent

• Bring a valid drivers license • Full payment is required to reserve equipment • Large group rentals (five or more of one item) will be required to pay a deposit equal to 50 percent of the total price.

Parking

Parking is a premium on UW-L's campus and the parking lots are regularly patrolled by University Police. We have two parking options for customers renting, reserving or picking up gear. 1) University Police have recently added two short term parking meters near the entrance of the REC. Bring a quarter. 2) Park near the Outdoor Connection boat and trailer storage area.
