UW-L Turkey Trot anticipates 2,400 runners, walkers

The 19th Annual UW-La Crosse Turkey Trot 5K run-walk will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, on campus. The event, presented by Subway and Health Tradition Health Plan, anticipates more than 2,400 runners and walkers. The Turkey Trot is a popular Thanksgiving-time tradition and one of the largest races in the area. The course starts on Badger Street near the UW-L Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex, winds through the La Crosse River marsh and ends on the sports complex track. Jr. Gobbler races are also planned, including a dash, one-half mile and mile run. Runners and walkers can register online. Online registration closes Wednesday, Nov. 20. Registration for the 5K is $7 before Nov. 15, $15 before Nov. 22 and $18 on race day. Find more details online. The event includes a costume contest. Those who wear a costume should enter the contest at the Recreational Eagle Center before the race.

Proceeds from this year’s race will go to the Eco Park, UW-L Multicultural Student Scholarship and UW-L Rec Sports.
