Apply to speak at commencement

Have you been involved on campus in student leadership positions, demonstrated academic achievement during your time at UW-L, and are you a member of the Spring 2013 graduating class? If so, please apply for the opportunity to speak at commencement on Sunday, May 19, 2013. (Applications due by Friday, 3/29.)

UW-La Crosse graduating students (undergraduate or graduate):

  • Have you been involved on campus in student leadership positions and education?
  • Have you demonstrated academic achievement during your time at UW-L?
  • Are you a member of the Spring 2013 graduating class?
If you can say yes to those questions, please apply for the opportunity to give a congratulatory and welcome speech to their graduating class and parents at commencement on Sunday, May 19, 2013.

To submit your application:

  1. Please complete this cover sheet
  2. Complete a letter of application (not longer than 1 page) addressed to the Academic Affairs Committee, explaining why you would like to be considered the commencement speaker. Include information regarding your campus and community involvement and student leadership positions held while enrolled as a student at UW-La Crosse.
  3. Share 1 copy of the typed draft of your 3-5 minute speech. All pages should contain candidate’s name and page number.
Email your submission to Andrea Higgins at ahiggins@uwlax.edu by 4:00PM on Friday, March 29, 2013. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
